Correct Usage of Weighted Sandbags

Weight Selection

Beginners are advised to start with 0.5–1 kg. Add 0.5 kg weekly once your body adapts. The maximum load shall not exceed 5%–10% of your body weight; ideally keep it under 5% of body weight. For daily walking: 0.3–1 kg; for professional training: 1–2 kg.

Wrapping Position & Method

Secure the sandbags between your knees and ankles. Avoid placing them right above the ankles to prevent friction injuries. Place a protective fabric layer between the sandbag and skin to avoid abrasion during exercise. Adjust the strap tightness to allow one finger to slide underneath. Loosen regularly to boost blood circulation.

Training Duration

Single session shall not exceed 30–60 minutes to avoid accumulated fatigue from prolonged weight bearing. Recommended training frequency: 3–4 times weekly, with at least one rest day between sessions for full muscle recovery. Remove sandbags right after training and stretch your calf muscles thoroughly.

Movement Standards

Land on your heels first while walking with steady strides. Avoid high-impact movements such as jumping or running. Combine with squats, lunges and stair climbing. Complete 10–15 repetitions per movement for 3–4 sets. Stop use immediately if joint pain or skin abrasion occurs. Customize training plans under guidance of a professional coach.
